Introducing Doorvest
Buying rental homes to build wealth and earn cash flow should be easy. 90% of the world's millionaires have attributed their wealth to real estate yet homeownership has gradually declined over the years.
I began my journey with personal finance roughly seven years ago and real estate two years later. At that point, I had saved up a bit of money working in tech and was looking for ways to get my savings to work for itself. After trying other avenues with limited success, I stumbled on cash flowing rental homes. The goal was to achieve financial independence by continuing to work at awesome companies I cared about while shoveling my savings into rental homes. Once I reached financial independence, I could get creative and choose to live on a beach, work at companies solely on mission vs how much they could pay me or maybe even start a startup?
Through personal experimentation, I had amassed a portfolio of rental homes and a small nest egg. Friends and friends of friends were intrigued and I'd often spend time chatting about my endeavors - even coaching a few through home #1. I often found that there was a gap between those that had the means and interest and those that were able to buy home #1. That gap in participation is because real estate investing is so highly fragmented - leaving a long list of unanswered questions for new investors:
What property should I buy?
How do I get a mortgage?
Once I buy, how do I fix it up?
Once it's fixed up, how do I lease it?
Once I lease it, how do I manage, collect rents, handle maintenance, issues, etc?
Segue to today, with my good friend, I'm en route as a co-founder of Doorvest with the intention of solving the issue of participation in real estate ownership. I believe that real estate is an awesome asset class for building long-term wealth while having the ability to positively impact the lives of everyday Americans.
I appreciate all the support and love chatting about all things personal finance so if you know anyone that's interested in investing, real estate etc I'd love to get in touch! Respond here or shoot me an email at andrew@doorvest.com.
